Glock 48 Mos Optic Compatibility
The Glock 48 was a sweet gun, but Glock is now making it a little better by giving it the MOS treatment. The Glock 48 MOS option includes a built-in optical module. The glass in question was cut for the Micro Red Dot Shield RMSc. The Glock 48 has a very thin slide, so it cannot accommodate most red dots. The good news is that the red dots are getting smaller and now the Shield RMSc, Swampfox Sentinel, Holosun 507K and SIG Romeo Zero are available.

The Glock 48 MOS and optics are a welcome addition to the Glock 48. This isn't the only change Glock has made to the 48 series pistol, today we'll explore all the major changes and see where the Glock 48 MOS stacks up against modern carry pistols.
The Glock 48 was originally made of smooth, elegant and attractive silver stainless steel. I think it was a great choice and gave the new slim guns a unique look. The Glock 48 MOS has switched to a more distinctive and less reflective black finish. This is probably a good idea for a gun designed to improve optics. Reducing glare wherever possible is a good idea in an optically advanced gun.
The Glock 48 MOS uses the nDLC variant. It is a hard coating like a diamond. It has a high hardness of 3000 HV. In Glocks, the senior tennis player was about halfway through the tournament. It's the same range that protects patrol Glocks across the country and around the world, so it's proven and reliable. The gap created by the removable MOS plate is very unobtrusive and fits perfectly against the slide when the optics are not engaged.

As I mentioned before, the Glock 48 MOS is basically a Glock 19 on a diet. It's a slim and sleek pistol, 0.16 inches smaller than the Glock 19 with an overall width of 1.10 inches. The Glock 48 is slightly shorter than the 19 at 7.28 inches, but manages to pack a slightly longer barrel at 4.17 inches. This slightly longer barrel allows the pistol to be sold in Canada without modifications. Previously, Glock 19 barrels were slightly lengthened for sale in Canada.
The Glock 48 MOS holds ten rounds of 9mm, and the Glock 48 MOS is compatible with Shield Arms' new magazine. Shield Arms makes a steel magazine with a capacity of 15 rounds in its compact design. This gives the Glock 48 a dose of the firepower of the Glock 19. Although these are later magazines, I cannot vouch for their authenticity.
The Glock 48 MOS weighs 24.97 ounces, 5 ounces lighter than a fully loaded Glock 19. The Glock 48 MOS is 5.04 inches tall, and that height will increase depending on the optics selected.

In my opinion, all Glock slide locks are derivative, and the problem is their placement and design. They are very slip-in and squeeze effectively with the toes. The best news is that Glock has redesigned the rear of the pistol to add a small notch to the pistol grip design. This protects your hands from sliding bite and allows you to hold the gun high and comfortably. It makes a huge difference in the design of the gun and makes it more comfortable, at least for me.
The Glock 48 MOS is a compact pistol, but I'm not sure I'd describe it as subcompact. I think Glock calls it a precision pistol. It is more compact in size and as a compact weapon, it is very maneuverable and very pleasant to shoot. The slim design makes it perfect for shooters with small hands and allows for more control over the gun. I enjoy the lack of finger grooves on the dial and find the dial very nice. I opted for more aggressive settings for added control.
The Glock 48 MOS is ideal for combat use and has a simple internal safety system. You never have to think about turning off security; automatically turns off when you pull the trigger. The simple design of Glock pistols also makes them easy to customize and you can build your own pistol. New triggers, sights, extended magazine releases, and other updates are relatively easy to download and can be done at home.
The modular optics system is the most prominent change in the design of the Glock 48 MOS. Many people don't realize that a red dot on a gun is such a big deal. This is clear and not necessarily necessary. However, optically enhanced rifles have proven to be faster, more accurate and more capable shooters in easier situations. Red dot optics on rifles do not require aiming, so they are lighter and faster than dot optics. New shooters can even use a red dot gun. All you have to do is aim the red dot and pull the trigger. For those of us who spend a lot of time on the target, it takes time, practice and many shots to hit the red dot. However, this is a pass and provides many opportunities for the shooter with the red dot as a long shot.
Another new feature worth noting is the addition of a short Picatinny rail on the G48 MOS. This little piece of rail allows you to equip your weapon with miniature weapon lights, lasers, and training devices. Surefire offers an excellent subcompact weapon light for the Glock 48 MOS. We are not the only microlight manufacturer on the market and this seems to be another growing trend. The rail should have been top notch with the original Glock 48, but better late than never in my opinion.
The Glock 48 MOS has a very visible companion found in the Gen 5 pistol. There's also a fingerless grip, reverse magazine release, and front and rear stock. The front series provides easy slide handling when the pistol is equipped with a red dot sight. Glock carefully crafted this pistol and designed it to be a functional and capable combat weapon.
The Glock 48 works the same way as the Glock 19. The thinner grip is more comfortable for me and more comfortable for most people. The coverall still fills the arm and provides an ultra-practical option for concealed carry. I hate the color pink, and the G48 and G48 MOS pistols provide an easy and safe grip. This makes the gun more likely to aim, especially when firing rapidly. The addition of a small grip allows you to hold it high on the gun without biting the slide.
